I managed to get a cool fun little button for site navigation, and as expected, it took an hour. At least I think it did, I wasn't actually keeping track. Yesterday was quite uneventful. Callback to the last entry, I finished up Ganbare Nakamura-kun! but I don't really have much to say on it, it's cute but that's about all my thoughts. Normally I wouldn't watch a show all the way through but it's a BL adaptation and I am desperate. I've talked about an anime I've enjoyed, and one that was nice I guess, so I feel like I should complete the holy trinity by revealing the anime this season that disappointed me.
I don't want things to get too negative here, but Agents of the Four Seasons could have been so good, and it just wasn't. The animation looks so good, the art is beautiful, the characters are interesting, and I am a lover of of character driven dramas. And the author of the light novel wrote Violet Evergarden, one of my favorite anime because of it's human drama. But the pacing was just so out of wack. It's a slow show, which is fine. I love slow shows if you couldn't tell by the President Aria's, but Agents was just not it. I still cannot get over that multiple back to back episodes detailing exactly why Hina and Sakura can't live without each other and vowed to spend the rest of their life together, only to at the very end, go out of it's way to specify that Sakura is not in love with Hina, even after episodes full of romantic tension and gestures. Literally lost my mind. I don't think it's controversial to say that if that backstory was given to a male and female character instead of two femle characters, they would've been written as love interests. However, I kept watching.
In a geniunely good episode, we are introduced to the Agent of Autumn, a six year old girl living in a monitered glass dome for her safety, and her Guard, a young man who puts on doting act around his Agent but claims the act he puts on is to ensure she's happy because it's his job as a guard and nothing else. At the end of that episode in a genuinely shocking moment, Nadeshiko, the Agent, is bombed and kidnapped by terrorists whose goal is to eliminate all the Agents. That moment is so well done and the physical parallels it draws between Rindo, the Guard, as he comes the realize how precious Nadeahiko is to him, and to their first meeting was quite emotional for me. The show made me care so much for this little girl and the man looks after her that by the end of the episode, all I wanted was for Nadeshiko to come back home as fast as possible, safe and sound.
So anyway, the episode after is entirely a flashback episode that had nothing to do with Nadeshiko because she hadn't been born yet. Now, I'm not a complete hater, the flashback did finally show Hina's kidnapping, an event that hanged over the series like a dark cloud. It was dramatic, it was tense, and the voice cast went above and beyond. That reminds me but I forgot to say yesterday that the Re:Zero voice cast did such an incredible job, transcendent. Anyway, it's a good episode and a really important episode, but by god it should not have been placed right after Nadeshiko's kidnapping. It was like whiplash going from one ultra dramtic event to another mostly unrelated dramatic event. But I kept watching, and I was not rewarded. The next episode has the three other Agents and their Guards coming together to create a plan to save Nadeshiko, but the characters that I enjoyed watching really got on my nerves. When a child is kidnapped by terrorists, it makes sense to want to save said child because people tend to have an inate duty to keep children safe, and help people in need. The thing is no one has that motivation except the Summer sisters. The reason the spring and winter duo give is that they want to make amends for failing to protect Hina, and nog because it is the clear right thing to do and the kidnapping of a child is tragic and distressing. I couldn't deal with how so little of the characters actually wanted to bring Nadeshiko back because they cared about her. The writing made it seem like everyone wanted to save Nadeshiko because it would make them feel better about themselves, and I feel like that is an innopropriate and aelfish motivation. So that's when I decided I just couldn't do it, and dropped the show. It just consistently got my hopes up, and then crushed them, and it got too much.
So I said I didn't want to get too negative, and I may have depending on the person reading. To that, I would like say do as I say not as I do. See ya!
So I figured out how to make a second page. I see now why people opt for website builders instead of coding an html because this is so much more time consuming. I have to look up how to add every feature, and then I get it wrong and have to double check what I did and then look up what the error message means because I thought I fixed the error but the message won't go away. It's definitely a learning curve and I'm looking forward to getting better at this and taking less time to do literally anything. I haven't had an incident where I forgot to save and lost a bunch of work, but I know it will happen eventually.
Anyway, I watched the final episode of Re:Zero season four. I think their doing the thing they did for season two where they split up both cours of the season and air them seperately. I've really enjoyed the Pleiades Watchtower arc so far. I think the show really hit it's stride after Suburu gets his amnesia because the story really leans into the mystery and horror elements that I felt were missing in season three. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed season three, but it's more of a battle shounen than the rest of the series, and I am not a battle shounen person. I'm looking forward to the rest of the arc, which I think is airing in the Fall 2026 season.
So I guess with this entry I have proved that this isn't a digital shrine to President Aria. Aria is one of my favorite shows and I think the President is cute and fun and fits the Neocities vibe (Aria is from the mid-2000's after all), so I added some images of him and just him on the homepage because I didn't know what else to add. I'm sure that as I develop this site and I get new ideas, I'll update the homepage to look more representive of myself, not that a collage of President Aria isn't representative of me.
